BOURNE putting his money where his mouth is

Dear Editor, please could I correct Gary Alexander Bourne letter Journal (4th March 2009) concerning Council Tax rises.

May I correct the £48.84 rise for Prestatyn residents. As politely pointed out by one concerned Conservative Councillor my figures were inaccurate.

Could your readers insert the word 'to' insted of 'by' please for the Council TAX.

For those of us who enjoy reading our free Journal each week. No doubt would have spotted the Journals full and accurate write up of all of Denbighshire's Council Tax rises. The actual figure, taking band 'D' as the bench mark is £46.84 or to put in reality an increase of 3.2% rise.

As Prestatyn has been lumbered with the highest increase and TAX rate due to what one lady mentioned to me as the need to pay for the £1,100,000 'gift' to the SCALA and the subsequence 26 years for Prestatyn Town Council to pay it back.

Of cause if your readers would like to send in suggestion as to where the town council could put the £2 difference, I couldn't possibly comment. Just don't make it 1 penny at a time!

Well, even BOURNE can make mistakes. But he knows how to correct them

Dear Editor, please could I comment on Thomas Actin letter Journal (4th March 2009) concerning Council Tax rises.

First may I say I agree whole heartedly with Thomas. I was actually at the meeting as an observer that agreed to the Tax rises, unlike some actual Councillors.

The reason for the actual 3.2% rise (note that figure and not 2.95%) was that if Prestatyn Town Council agreed to a lesser figure they would simply run out of money and we couldn't have that. What else would they throw away? With strange road works in Gas Works Lane and roumours Aldi moving there, rumours of PrestatynTrain Station revamp, Prestatyn Bus station stopped work as well as Tesco. The Somerfield site development being used for housing. Post Office sorting office going to Rhyl and now Offa's Tavern 'closed' and rumours that Tesco is yet again buying up more of Prestatyn.

Prestatyn Town Council have a lot of potential to make that 3.2% (highest in Denbighshire) to 'vanish.'
